Post-Surgical Physical Therapy in Torrance, CA

Rehab Like an Athlete, Not a Patient

Surgery is step one. Getting back to sport is the goal — and that takes more than time. At PRIME, recovery is built around what your body can do, not just how many weeks have passed.

Why Being “Cleared” Doesn’t Always Mean Ready to Return to Sport

Cleared by Time, Not by Testing

Most post-surgical clearances are based on weeks elapsed, not on what your body can actually handle. Without objective testing, “cleared” can mean very little — and returning too early is the leading cause of re-injury.

Handed Off to a Tech at Every Session

Standard clinic rehab often means 15 minutes with a PT and the rest of your session with a tech running you through the same protocol everyone else gets. After a surgery that cost you months, you deserve more than that.

Finishing Rehab Still Feeling Like a Patient

Completing standard PT and still not feeling like yourself is more common than it should be. Late-stage performance work — rebuilding power, speed, and confidence — is where most traditional programs fall short.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions from athletes preparing for surgery or navigating post-op recovery at PRIME.

Can you handle my ACL rehab even if I'm not a baseball player?

Absolutely. Post-surgical PT at PRIME serves athletes across all sports — and active adults who aren't competitive athletes at all. The criteria-based approach and 1:1 DPT care apply to every case, regardless of sport or activity level.

My surgeon gave me a protocol. Will you follow it?

Yes. PRIME works within your surgeon's protocol and communicates with your surgical team as needed. Our role is to make sure every progression is executed with precision — and to add the performance layer that most protocols don't include.

I was told I'm cleared, but I don't feel ready. Can you still help?

Yes — this is one of the most common situations we see. Late-stage and return-to-sport testing can identify exactly where the gaps are. Many athletes who feel “off” after a surgical clearance are simply missing the final performance layer of their recovery.

What is prehab and do I actually need it?

Prehab is PT before surgery, designed to build strength and movement quality so you enter the operating room in the best possible shape. Athletes who complete prehab typically recover faster and more completely. If surgery is on the horizon, starting now makes a meaningful difference.

Do you accept insurance for post-surgical rehab?

PRIME is cash-based — no in-network insurance is accepted. We accept credit card, debit, HSA, and FSA. Superbills are available for clients who want to submit to their insurance for possible out-of-network reimbursement.
