Shoulder Pain Physical Therapy in Torrance, CA

Stop Working Around Shoulder Pain

Active people come to us when shoulder pain keeps interrupting training, lifting, or everyday life. We find what's actually driving it and build a plan to fix it at the source.

Why Shoulder Pain Keeps Coming Back After Standard Care

Treating the Shoulder, Not the Whole Chain

Shoulder pain is often tied to how the neck, upper back, and shoulder blade move together — not just the joint itself. Chase only the shoulder and the same pinch or ache tends to return once you load it again.

The Rest-Then-Reload Cycle

Backing off overhead work or lifting until it settles, then jumping straight back to full training, is one of the most common reasons shoulder pain lingers. Without rebuilding strength and control first, the same flare-up shows up again.

Rehab That Stops Short of Overhead Ready

Generic programs often stop at basic band exercises, long before your shoulder can handle overhead pressing, throwing, or heavy lifting. That gap between feeling okay and being ready is where re-injury happens.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about shoulder pain care and what to expect at PRIME.

Do I need a referral or imaging before coming in?

No. You can start with a free phone consultation and book an evaluation directly — California lets you see a physical therapist without a physician referral. If imaging or a physician's input is ever needed, we'll tell you and help coordinate it.

What causes shoulder pain if my scan looks normal?

Shoulder pain often comes from how the shoulder blade, upper back, and rotator cuff share load — not just the joint itself. A normal scan doesn't mean nothing is wrong. We assess the whole movement chain to find what's driving your symptoms and address it at the source.

Can you help if I want to keep lifting or training while I recover?

Usually, yes. Complete rest is rarely the answer. We build a plan that keeps you moving where it's safe, modifies what needs it, and progressively loads the shoulder so you can keep training while it gets stronger — instead of starting over after every flare-up.

How is PRIME different from PT I've tried before?

Every session is one-on-one with a Doctor of Physical Therapy for a full hour — no being handed to a tech. We use VALD testing to measure progress objectively and rehab in a real gym, so your shoulder is ready for the demands you actually care about.

Do you accept insurance for shoulder pain therapy?

PRIME is cash-based — no in-network insurance is accepted. We accept credit card, debit, HSA, and FSA. Superbills are available for clients who want to submit to their insurance for possible out-of-network reimbursement.
